Rumor: Apple plans to change the processor for notebooks

Apple is one juicy item du jour: a company can change the computer's new processor architectures, leaving Intel to ARM.

Apple already uses ARM designed the interior of its mobile chips. The question is, Apple will begin to put weapons in their computers, too?

According to the gossip site Semiconductor (yes, gossip semiconductor, who knew?) Semiaccurate, the answer is yes.

Their source said it was "a done deal" for laptops Apple to switch to ARM chips in 2-3 years.

Join Tony Smith sounds like a warning. He says that the ARM and Intel are very different animals. Design of ARM is optimized for low power consumption, ideal for small mobile devices. Intel offers better performance - compute things faster and able to handle more of them at the same time.

So why consider that Apple ARM chips in its line of laptops? Perhaps because some of its laptops like the MacBook Air, is becoming more like mobile devices and less like traditional laptops. Perhaps because he has plans that would make OS X more like iOS. Or maybe because he knows something about the ARM plans for the future that we do not.
